Rich Crab and Shrimp Bisque

This rich and creamy crab and shrimp bisque is an indulgent homemade delight that is perfect for any occasion.

  • 1 pound crab meat
  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 4 cups seafood stock
  • 1 cup chopped onions
  • 1/2 cup chopped celery
  • 1/2 cup chopped carrots
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the onions, celery, and carrots, cooking until softened.
  2. Stir in the garlic and tomato paste; cook for an additional minute.
  3. Add the seafood stock and bring to a simmer.
  4. Add the shrimp and cook until they turn pink.
  5. Stir in the crab meat, heavy cream, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  6. Finish with lemon juice and parsley before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can sauté the shrimp in a bit of lemon butter before adding them to the pot.
  • This bisque can be made a day ahead and reheated.
