Meatball Sub Casserole

A hearty and delicious twist on the classic meatball sub, perfect for family dinners.

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup diced onion
  • 1 cup chopped bell pepper
  • 1 package sub sandwich hoagies
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion and bell pepper; sauté until soft.
  3. Add ground beef and Italian sausage. Cook until browned.
  4. Stir in marinara sauce, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning; simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Layer the bottom of a baking dish with hoagies, add meat sauce, and top with mozzarella cheese.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add some crushed red pepper to the meat mixture.
  • Use a mix of different cheeses for additional complexity.
