- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons granulated sugar (for rolling)
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for rolling)
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and 1 1/2 cups of sugar until fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs, one at a time, until well combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to the butter mixture.
- In a small bowl, mix together the 3 tablespoons of sugar and the cinnamon.
- Roll dough into balls and then roll in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
- Place on ungreased baking sheets and bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Let cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
