Easy Chewy Snickerdoodles

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar (for rolling)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for rolling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and 1 1/2 cups of sugar until fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, until well combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to the butter mixture.
  5. In a small bowl, mix together the 3 tablespoons of sugar and the cinnamon.
  6. Roll dough into balls and then roll in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  7. Place on ungreased baking sheets and bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  8. Let cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

  • For chewier cookies, do not overbake them.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
