Ingredients

  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 5 cups all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Sprinkle yeast over the top and let it stand for about 10 minutes.
  2. Add salt, vegetable oil, and 2 cups of flour. Mix until smooth.
  3. Gradually add the remaining flour, kneading until the dough is elastic and smooth.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  5. Punch down the dough and shape it into loaves.
  6. Place in greased bread pans and let rise again for 30 minutes.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
